LA Festival of Movies

The logo was derived from a halftoned book scan, and the challenge was figuring out how to animate the eye without losing it's photographic quality.

I started by filming a closeup of an eye and stabilizing the footage. From there, I used Example-Based Synthesis to remap the source-image pixels onto the moving eyeball, producing a halftone eye that blinks and darts around, but maintains the texture and personality of the original scan.
